Grade II listed barn conversion near Cirencester

When this grade II barn was acquired by our clients it was a large, nineteenth century granary barn, part of which had origins in the eighteenth century with cast iron windows.  The brief was to create a large, airy and exciting environment with four bedrooms, en suite bathrooms, two studies and a large library area.

To punch light into the heart of the building, the inner slopes of the roof were glazed, creating a very airy internal lightwell. The cast iron windows were carefully restored, helping to retain the original character of the refurbished barn. During construction, a large, underground cistern was discovered which was originally created as a reservoir for the village below.  This was subsequently converted into a dramatic internal swimming pool.
