Courtyard barn conversion in Somerset

These were a simple courtyard range of traditional Somerset barns in a derelict state.  The brief was to convert them into four properties, creating a distinctive and original atmosphere of their own.

By the introduction of a central circular tower, the courtyard barns had a focus and, by continuing this theme around with carved, arched doorways, the result was an attractive composition with a Provencale flavour.
